Wall-hung vanities, walk-in showers and smart lighting can make a compact bathroom feel twice the size. These are the ideas we use most often.
Many Brisbane bathrooms, especially in post-war homes and units, are tight on space. With the right choices a small bathroom can feel open, bright and easy to clean.
Our go-to ideas
- Wall-hung vanity. Seeing floor underneath makes the room feel larger and makes mopping easier. A curved or fluted timber front adds character without bulk.
- Walk-in shower. A single fixed glass panel instead of a full enclosure keeps sightlines open. A linear drain lets the floor tiles run through.
- Large-format tiles. Fewer grout lines means a calmer look. Running the same tile on floor and walls stretches the space visually.
- Recessed niches. A tiled niche in the shower replaces shelves and caddies.
- Mirror cabinets and LED mirrors. Storage and lighting in one, without extra fixtures on the wall.
- Light, warm colours. Soft whites and stone tones bounce light around. Add warmth with timber and brushed brass or bronze tapware.
Don’t forget ventilation
Queensland humidity is hard on bathrooms. A properly ducted exhaust fan is essential in a small room to prevent mould and protect your new finishes.
